Tip 16 - First Turn & Research

You'll learn as you play, but early on you need to quickly explore and try and find a few more habitable worlds of at least "size 6". Since my custom race "Killer Squirrels" doesn't start with Stellar Cartography (a research tech that automatically displays the numbers of planets around each star) - I'm going to choose that one.

An important difference in Dark Avatar's tech tree is that it's more streamlined. In the screen above I've swapped out the grid-like background so you can see the fact many techs are split into multiple squares.  This allows you to select each one in sequence if you'd like without them branching 20 miles to the right.  Also when expand the research view (by clicking more>>) you can zoom in/out with your mouse wheel.
