Tip 20 - Information 101 (and more mining stuff)

If your following this guide in order, I'm taking a sideline to talk about micromanagement before I get to survey ships.  This is the perfect time to talk about how to find all your information and how to handle that info.  The biggest complaints I see from people are:

So, this is the biggest reason for the guide.  For over a year I played this game and had those same feelings.  When I got Dark Avatar, I started things out the same old way, and then after watching a developer video it hit me.  WOW!  I've been skipping important features that gave me all kinds of neat information and eases the game... and I thought those screens were fluff!  As I read forums, I see other people complaining of the exact same things I had been.  So these next few pages will be full of micromanaging.  Read all the text and stick with it, and if you forget... come back to this site for a refresher.

So we were talking about the miner/asteroids and wondering - exactly what it does for you, and how to track it?  The main planet screen offers no help but the one below does...

This is very important and you'll want to venture here often.  Click the Summary button when you're in the planet screen.

• Now you'll be in this screen above.  You can see the 3 asteroids together are providing 8 production points for the planet.  And the best part is, there's no maintenance cost for it!  A smart person can learn to either make a planet like this a hub of manufacturing by loading up the planet with factories and, or they can balance economy with production by building fewer factories, but still have decent production.  As you research mining technology, this number goes way up.
• Now you can monitor all your planets intricate details and switch between them quickly by hitting "X" and "Z" on the keyboard.
• Another nice thing about this screen is it shows you bonuses.  My Entertainment Network shows a +100%.  That's because I built my Entertainment building on a special square (one with an approval bonus).
